Following the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting held on December 5th 2023, the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) has raised the benchmark lending rate from 10.5% to 12.5% percent in yet another attempt at containing the devaluation of the local currency against the US dollar. The National Transport and Safety Authority has said that the printing of the smart driving licenses may delay much longer following the breakdown of a machine used to print the documents.
