Authorities in Kilifi County have voiced renewed concerns over the likelihood of a resurgence in cult-related activities after police recovered the body of a man and rescued four individuals in Kwa Binzaro Village, barely 26 km from the infamous Shakahola Forest.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Interior Ministry said police are conducting an operation on a secluded five-acre homestead following a public tip-off about suspicious religious activities.
“A 50-year-old man who had been reported missing at Siaya Police Station on April 15, his 40-year-old wife, and two females aged 40 and 19 were rescued from the compound,” the ministry reported.
Authorities have expressed concern that additional human remains could be found at the site.
Acting on a tip-off from members of the public, security and intelligence officers conducted a swift operation targeting the secluded homestead linked to suspicious religious activity.

Additionally, the Interior Ministry disclosed that the raid unearthed two human skulls and the freshly deceased body of an unidentified adult male in nearby thickets.
The remains were transferred to the Malindi Sub-County Hospital Mortuary for preservation, identification, and forensic examination.
Police have confirmed the arrest of a prime suspect in the new radicalisation case, along with three individuals identified as operational managers of the homestead.
Three more individuals were also detained in connection with the sale of the property to the suspect, as questions remain about the legality and transparency of the ownership and transaction process.
