The media fraternity in mourning after journalist Rita Tinina, who has been working for NTV since October last year, was found dead in her house in Nairobi’s Kileleshwa area on Sunday, March 17.
Her colleagues said she was to be at work on Sunday, but failed to show up, and could not be reached on phone.
“It is unusual that she is not at work and no one knows her whereabouts that is what prompted the search that led to the discovery… unfortunately she was found dead in her house,” one of her colleagues told Capital FM.
Police confirmed that Tinina’s 7-year-old child notified the house girl that her mother was unresponsive, prompting her to call some of her friends.
The body was taken to Umash Funeral Home at 5:00pm, with her employer, the Nation Media Group that owns NTV, confirming the death via X social media platform, formerly Twitter.
“Celebrated NTV journalist Rita Tinina dies at her Nairobi home; family requests privacy during difficult moment,” the broadcaster said.
This is a big loss as Ms Tinina has been in the media space for over two decades starting from NTV before she moved to KTN. She made a comeback to NTV in October last year.
