Ukraine has accused Russia of rejecting a proposed ceasefire following recent attacks on civilian infrastructure, including hospitals. The accusations come after a phone call between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the attacks, stating that Russia’s actions, which have targeted vital infrastructure, have undermined any hopes for a peace agreement. Zelenskyy also confirmed plans to speak with Trump later today, emphasising that the US should oversee any potential ceasefire concerning energy infrastructure.
In a statement from the Kremlin, Putin reportedly agreed to halt attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure for 30 days. However, Putin refrained from committing to a broader, unconditional ceasefire for the duration of the war, leaving the possibility of further conflict open.
Meanwhile, Russia has claimed that its air defences successfully shot down dozens of Ukrainian drones across several regions, further escalating tensions between the two nations.
