du, a leading telecommunications provider from the UAE, and PEACE Cable International Network have unveiled a new digital corridor directly linking the United Arab Emirates with Kenya.
This expansion of the PEACE (Pakistan and East Africa Connecting Europe) Cable System marks a pivotal advancement in the region’s digital infrastructure, creating a powerful conduit for economic growth, digital trade, and technological innovation.
The newly established UAE–Kenya segment transforms the digital landscape by introducing unprecedented route diversity and dramatically enhancing network resilience.
This direct link promises to reduce latency and enable faster, more reliable transmission of data, cloud services, and digital content between the Gulf and African markets.
It represents a strategic enhancement that solidifies the UAE’s position as a central global hub for international data traffic, connecting the Middle East, Africa, and regions beyond.
According to Karim Benkirane, Chief Commercial Officer at du, this development is the next chapter in their collaboration with PEACE, one that significantly strengthens their intercontinental footprint.
“This development strengthens our intercontinental footprint and reinforces the UAE’s role as a central hub for international data traffic. In addition, it reflects our ongoing commitment to enabling global connectivity and advancing the UAE’s ambitions in AI-driven innovation, data intelligence, and digital leadership,” said Karim Benkirane.
This sentiment was echoed by Xiaohua Sun, CEO of PEACE Cable, who stated that the cable system was conceived with the vision of connecting continents, and this new link brings that ambition closer to reality.
“By directly connecting the UAE and Kenya, we’re expanding access, improving latency, and enhancing connectivity across Africa, the Middle East, and beyond, driving new opportunities for digital inclusion and economic development,” added Xiaohua Sun.
