Energy Cabinet Secretary, Opiyo Wandayi has called on Wiper leader, Kalonzo Musyoka to leave Raila Odinga alone and stay out of the Broad-Based government.
Wandayi said that the former premier and his supporters have made a conscious decision to work with President William Ruto, and no amount of cajoling would change their minds.
He was speaking at Sirandu village in Gem constituency after commissioning a Sh12.5 million rural electrification project funded by the government through REREC.
“This idea that every now and then, before elections, people run to Raila Odinga praising him as a good man who fights for Kenyans only to sabotage him after the elections must stop,” said the CS, who was flanked by Gem legislator Elisha Odhiambo and his Nyando counterpart, Jared Okello.
Wandayi challenged Kalonzo and his supporters to decide whether to join the Broad-Based coalition or what he called the Wamunyoro coalition.
“The way things are moving now and as things stand, there are only two political formations going forward. Either you are with the broad-based coalition or you are with the Wamunyoro coalition,” he said, adding, “There is no third way.”
The CS, who is the immediate former MP for Ugunja constituency, said political vultures have fed on Raila’s political blood for too long.
“These are the vultures who always want to see Baba languishing on the streets all the time as they benefit politically. We must call you out because your time is up,” he said, adding, “Those vultures are not just out there. They are also here.”
Gem MP, Elisha Odhiambo hailed the government for the electrification project. He also praised President William Ruto for putting up a strong campaign for Raila Odinga during the recent African Union Commission chairmanship race.
Odhiambo, however, said there was collusion between the Francophone and Muslim countries that influenced the election.
“We need to call upon the English-speaking countries in Africa to unite. The question to ask is should we withdraw if our interest is not considered?” he posed.
The Gem legislator said there was a need for the Francophone and Islamic countries to agree that even English speakers can head the AU Commission.
Nyando legislator, Jared Okello took issue with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for threatening to stop President Ruto from visiting Meru should Chief Justice Martha Koome be impeached by the Judicial Commission.
Okello said Ruto, as the head of the executive, had no business with the judiciary, which is led by Koome.
“If Martha Koome has engaged in some hot air and wild goose chase, how do you bring in President Ruto there?” he posed, adding, “Let her chase her own goose and warm herself with her own hot air.”
