National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula has been sued over an unsettled Sh281,000 debt related to the delivery of two German Shepherd dogs and training services.
The lawsuit, filed by Isoka Bethwel in the Small Claims Court, alleges that Wetangula contracted Bethwel to supply him with two male German Shepherd dogs and to provide related training services.

Bethwel was also instructed to deliver two packs of dog food, four packs of Brave Active dog food, training sleeves, a dog leash, choke chains, grooming brushes, a nail cutter, five litres of dog shampoo, and five litres of kennel disinfectant – all amounting to Sh348,100.
The plaintiff says he paid an advance payment for the dogs worth Sh100,000. He, however, states that the balance amounting to Sh248,100 was not paid in full. The court has heard that the accused declined to pay the money he owed him for having supplied the dogs and services.
“I tried to get in touch with the Respondent to recover said balance, but the Respondent rudely and adamantly informed me that he would not pay me the remaining balance,” he told the court.
Bethwel goes ahead to state that he has made various attempts to receive his dues without success, thus forcing him to seek compensation. The continued situation has caused him critical psychological harm, and if it does not stop, he will lose his remaining balance.
“I waited for the payment of the balance of Kenya Shilling Two Hundred and Forty-Eight Thousand, One Hundred (Kshs 248,100/-) but all was in vain,” he said.
Bethwel is now asking the court to help him recover the full amount owed.
