The Government has assured Kenyans of uninterrupted supply of fuel despite escalating tensions in the Middle East, the region from which the country sources a significant portion of its fuel imports.
In a press statement to newsrooms, the Cabinet Secretary (CS) for Energy and Petroleum Opiyo Wandayi said they had reviewed the national supply and stock position and confirmed that the country currently holds sufficient petroleum stocks to meet both domestic and regional demand.
The assurance comes amid growing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, raising concerns globally over potential disruptions to oil production and supply chains.
The CS stated that the Ministry is closely monitoring developments as the situation remains fluid while engaging with its government-to-government (G-G) suppliers to plan contingency measures should the need arise.
Further, he assured the public and stakeholders that the Ministry remains vigilant and prepared to take necessary measures to safeguard energy security.
“We wish to assure the public and all stakeholders that the Ministry remains alert and shall continue taking necessary actions to ensure there is uninterrupted supply,” Wandayi affirmed.
He reiterated that the Ministry has undertaken pre-emptive steps to provide regular updates as the situation unfolds, emphasizing that Kenya’s energy security remains stable and that proactive measures are in place to cushion the country against any potential external supply shocks.
