Police have arrested a woman suspected to have stabbed and killed her husband using a pair of scissors.

The arrest followed a call from police headquarters at Vigilance House, Nairobi, notifying cops based in Butula sub-county in Busia of a serious assault incident in the area.

The incident happened at South Gate centre at Bumala Township’s Busire location.

A police report seen by this reporter said officers led by Bumala OCS accompanied by the Sub-County Criminal Investigation Officer visited the scene and established that the victim, Lucas Onyango Odero, 29 and now deceased had fatally been injured by his wife. The lady has since been identified as Joyce Adhiambo Otieno, 24.

She is accused of stabbing Odero seven times using a pair of scissors following a family dispute, a development that led to his death.

“The victim was rushed to Sega Mission Hospital by neighbours where he succumbed to the injuries while undergoing treatment,” the police report reads in part.

The scene was processed and documented by Butula Directorate of Criminal Investigation officers.

Police said a pair of scissors, the late Odero’s clothes and the suspect’s clothes all had blood stains.

“The suspect was searched and placed in custody while appearing normal,” police said in the report.

Odero’s body has been moved to Sega Mission Hospital mortuary awaiting autopsy.
