Police in Mombasa have arrested County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Lands, Urban Planning and Housing in connection with an incident where a 25-year-old blogger was abducted, assaulted and sexually abused. Kiambu County has accumulated Sh6.5 billion in unpaid bills, making it one of the top Counties with debt, according to the Controller of Budget, Margaret Nyakang’o’s, report for the 2023/24 financial year. This places Kiambu second, behind Nairobi, which leads with Sh118 billion in pending bills, while counties across the country face a collective total of over Sh181 billion. Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa has dismissed reports of misuse of funds in the county as misleading. Barasa said that the reported use of Sh521 million in hospitality is not a reflection of what the county government has spent according to the county records.
