The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has offered a “significant cash reward” for information leading to the re-arrest of Kware murder suspect Collins Jumaisi Khalusha.

Jumaisi, who was awaiting plea-taking on Friday, escaped from Gigiri Police Station early Tuesday morning in a shocking breach of security involving cutting through a wire mesh and scaling a perimeter wall.

The breakout was noticed at daybreak when authorities woke the suspects for their morning tea. The prisoners had cut through a burglar-proofed window and then climbed over a perimeter wall to make good their escape.

Jumaisi was detained alongside Amos Momanyi and Moses Ogembo after a ruling by a court last Friday to have them detained for seven more days following an application by the prosecution for a 21-day extension to detain them.

He was detained at Gigiri Police Station, while his co-accused, Amos Momanyi and Moses Ogembo, were moved to Muthaiga Police Station.

The case is due for mention on August 26 for review purposes.

Detectives on Thursday announced a cash reward for anyone who comes forth with information leading to the re-arrest of Jumaisi.

The investigations unit revealed that Jumaisi is still at large, having managed to escape on Tuesday morning in the company of 12 Eritreans also being held at the same station for illegal entry into the country.

“A significant cash reward will be given to anyone with credible information leading to the suspect’s arrest. He is from Shiru Sub-location, Shaviringa Location, Hamisi Sub-county, Vihiga County,” DCI said in a notice.

Members of the public who have relevant information have been asked to share it through the anonymous #FichuaKwaDCI hotline at 0800722203, police hotlines 999, 911, or 112, or at any police station.
