The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has announced the death of Silas Cheboi, its Assistant Director for Surveillance and Enforcement, describing his passing as a significant loss to the organisation.

In a statement issued on Thursday, August 13, EPRA said: “We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Mr Silas Cheboi, Assistant Director, Surveillance & Enforcement at the Energy & Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA).”

The authority added: “His passing is a profound loss to the Authority, his colleagues, and all those who had the privilege of working with him.”

Cheboi is remembered by colleagues as a manager who carried out his duties with professionalism, integrity, and unwavering commitment to EPRA’s mandate.

As Assistant Director for Surveillance and Enforcement, he was responsible for overseeing field inspections, investigating illegal activities within the energy sector, and ensuring compliance with national energy laws, as well as coordinating operations aimed at curbing malpractice such as fuel siphoning, unlicensed gas refilling, and power theft.
