Elders and residents of the Northeastern region have expressed their gratitude following President William Ruto nomination of Principal Secretaries from the region.
The elders said that the president has shown his commitment to ensuring equal treatment for all regions, first, by launching key development projects in North eastern and removing the vetting process for residents seeking to acquire Identity Cards and, secondly, by nominating leaders from the area to senior government positions.
Among those nominated to PS positions are Aden Millah (State Department for Shipping and Maritime Affairs), former Wajir North MP Ahmed Abdisalan (State department for National government coordination), and Abdi Dubat who has been reassigned from PS in the State department for EAC affairs to Consul – General in Arusha.
Led by the Kenya Livestock Marketing Council Chairman Dubat Amey, they called on citizens to support the president’s development agenda and the efforts of bringing unity and cohesion in the country.
“We are grateful for the Positions that president Ruto has given to this region. For a long time, we have been marginalized but now we have people from our communities who will sit at the high decision making table,” Amey said.
“Since taking office, the president has been consistent in bringing everyone to the table and treating all Kenyans equally. Today, our people do not need to go through vetting to acquire national ID cards and this is a start in the right direction,” he added.
At the same time, Amey urged all Kenyans from across the country to shun divisive and tribal politics that may slow development activities in the long term.
On insecurity that has been rampant in the region, the elders said that, as patriotic citizens, they will work together with security agencies by sharing information on any suspicious persons or activities.
