Sudan has strongly condemned Kenya for hosting a political meeting with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), labelling it a violation of its sovereignty and an endorsement of terrorism.
The Sudanese government expressed its outrage after the RSF held its activities at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi, accusing Kenya of providing support to the militia.
“Hosting leaders of the terrorist RSF militia and allowing them to conduct political and propaganda activities constitutes an endorsement of and complicity in these heinous crimes,” Sudan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated.
The Sudanese government argued that Kenya’s actions not only breach the principles of good neighbourliness but also violate promises made by the Kenyan government not to allow any activities hostile to Sudan on its soil.
“It is, therefore, tantamount to an act of hostility against the entire Sudanese people,” the statement added, underscoring Sudan’s deep dissatisfaction with its neighbour’s involvement.
In response, Kenya rejected any suggestion of supporting the RSF. Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Korir Sing’oei clarified, “Kenya is a supporter of a negotiated settlement to the dispute and has said as much time without number.”
He argued that allowing the RSF to present its demands did not imply that Kenya was backing the group’s position.
Despite Kenya’s defence, Sudan dismissed the political agreement signed in Nairobi as inconsequential, stating that it would have no effect on the situation in Sudan.
“This propaganda stunt will have no impact on the ground,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs declared, reaffirming Sudan’s resolve to liberate its territory from what it described as “terrorist militias and their foreign mercenaries.”
Sudan also called for international condemnation of Kenya’s actions, viewing the event as a hostile act against its sovereignty and a breach of international law.
