The Nairobi Law Monthly September Edition

Your April Issue carried a brief titled ‘3 rhinos killed monthly’. Under the headline was an uncaptioned picture of a slain rhino, with an attendant in military regalia, probably, a Kenya Wildlife Service ranger – a quite disturbing scene, more so if you think in terms of an average of 36 rhinos a year.

There is a sudden increase not just in poaching, but sophisticated poaching in our game parks and reserves. At this rate, if no significant actions are taken, there may be nothing left, in the next ten to fifteen years, for posterity. That tourism is one of Kenya’s big earners leaves one wondering why government cannot protect the wildlife, the backbone of tourism, with all its might.

Are those entrusted with guarding our wildlife involved in its destruction? We need your magazine to go deep and bring us more than just a brief on this issue.
