Security agencies have been called into action following the abduction of Wajir Member of County Assembly Yussuf Hussein Ibrahim, which occurred on September 13.

Hussein was forcefully taken from a taxi along Enterprise Road in Nairobi; circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear.

He was abducted around 9 p.m. when he was heading towards South C. His taxi was intercepted by two unmarked vehicles from where the abductors took out Hussein.

During the abduction, they had even taken the phone of the taxi driver to avoid immediate communication. The phone was recovered when it fell inside the taxi, but it created a chaotic scene.

Wajir Speaker Abdille Yussuf has reacted to the incident in the company of other MCAs with utter concern and urgency.

“We are alarmed by the predicaments of our colleague and in the recent surge of abductions, enforced disappearance and killing of Kenyans, there is an urgent need for the security agencies to inform us the whereabouts of the honorable member,” he stated.

The leaders have also urged that if Hussein is found to have committed any offense, he should be granted his rights under Article 49 of the Constitution of Kenya, which ensures the freedom of arrested individuals.

The taxi driver promptly reported the abduction to the Industrial Area Police Station, which initiated an investigation. Simultaneously, Hussein’s family filed a report with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) at the Makadara Police Station, under OB 86/13/09/2024.

Makadara police chief Judith Nyongesa confirmed that the search for the missing MCA is ongoing but stated that he has yet to be found.
