Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti has dismissed the ongoing rumours that she has been arrested in the United Kingdom (UK).

The governor claims that the online smear campaign has been orchestrated and funded by her political adversaries, who seek to undermine the transformative work she has been doing in Machakos by suggesting that she and her son have smuggled millions to the UK.

In a press release, Wavinya warned her political enemies that they may face legal action for spreading false news online and tarnishing her and her family’s reputations, which could create a negative perception and endanger their lives.

“We will identify, pursue, and bring to justice those spreading baseless rumours, which amount to defamation and misuse of electronic media to disseminate falsehoods. Should anything happen to me or any member of my family, you will be held responsible,” Wavinya warned.

Furthermore, the Governor stated that she remains committed to serving and improving the lives of Machakos residents and will not be distracted by the ongoing online defamation.

Wavinya also noted that she and her family are well and in good standing with authorities both in Kenya and abroad.
