CJ ASKS CHURCH TO WORK WITH GOVERNMENT
Chief Justice Mathew Guy Muli has asked churches to work with the government. “You must work complementary to the aspiration of the government”. His was a rejoinder to a statement by PCEA Nairobi pastor Timothy Njoya who had reportedly asked his flock to pray for embattled Cabinet Minister Charles Njonjo at a time the then ruling Kanu government had isolated him (Njonjo) as a coup plotter. Earlier CPK Eldoret Diocese Bishop Alexander Muge had warned the government against any move to infringe on right of worship. “Freedom of worship is not a privilege as some politicians assume. It is a right … and it’s the duty of every government to recognize and safeguard that right. Anybody who claims to have given his or her subjects the freedom of worship or any government that that claims the same is both transgressing its legitimate limits and assuming the position of God.
