A three-judge bench led by Eric Ogola has begun hearings on petitions challenging the October 2024 impeachment of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. The petitions allege procedural flaws, lack of fair hearing, constitutional violations, and political motives, including bribery.
Rigathi Gachagua, who was impeached on charges including corruption and insubordination, on Monday expressed hope that he would obtain justice in court. “Day 1 at the Milimani High Court… May justice prevail. God bless Kenya,” he said on X.
The courtroom was filled as proceedings opened on Monday morning, even as some sessions were postponed to May 7 and 8 due to judicial scheduling.
