The Kisumu Central Luo Council of Elders, under the umbrella of the United Luo Elders led by Okello Njagi, has praised the candid relationship between President Ruto and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, noting that it will promote development not only in the Nyanza region but across Kenya as a whole.

Njagi highlighted the key benefits the Nyanza region is already experiencing as a result of the cordial relationship between President Ruto and the former Prime Minister. He also criticised those opposing the unity pact, urging them not to interfere.

“The region has been excluded from the government until the broad-based government came, and the region got a few cabinet positions, such as Treasury and Energy,” said Njagi.

Njagi’s sentiments were echoed by Dalmas Aludo, the Chairman of the Luo Elders, who criticised a segment of the Luo community for blaming Raila over the decision to collaborate with President Ruto. He urged the region to be patient, humble, and await what is to come.

The elders are now advocating for the establishment of a united Luo Elders Forum as a way to strengthen unity within the region.

“Our goal is to be one united force, just as the national leaders are,” added Aludo.
