A 20-minute trip to the shop ended in anguish for a Kiambaa brother who returned to find his sister’s body in the kitchen and a message written in blood on the corridor wall.
The body of 18-year-old Joy Wangui was found in a pool of blood at her family home in Moto Village, Molo Sub-County, Nakuru County, on Sunday evening. Her head was discovered along a corridor near the bathroom.
Their neighbour, Charles Njenga, said Wangui’s younger brother had left her alone at the house while he went to the family shop, a few metres away. When he returned, he found the front door locked and entered through the kitchen door, where he discovered his sister’s body.
Police said an axe, a panga and two knives, all soiled with blood, were found near the body.
At the corridor where Wangui’s head was found, a message reading, “I love you Joy, but never cheat, I am sorry,” was written on the wall in what appeared to be blood.
Molo Police Station officers and detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) arrived at the scene shortly after receiving the report.

Molo Sub-County Police Commander Justus Katana said officers received a report of the killing at Kiambaa, Moto Village, at about 2pm on Sunday.
He said preliminary investigations had identified Wangui’s boyfriend, Walter Kipkoech, as a person of interest in the case. Police said Kipkoech had fled the area after the incident and that efforts to trace him were ongoing.
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations and officers from Molo Police Station processed the scene as investigations continued. No arrests had been made by Sunday night.
Wangui’s body was moved to the Molo Sub-County Hospital mortuary pending a postmortem examination.
